College
of Chi Kung
The College's aim is to offer a high standard of teaching
that allows students to learn through their own discovery.
The course is taught in a reflective way that acknowledges
the deep intelligence within each of us.
The
course was set up in 1999 for people wanting to become teachers
in the field, however it is also open to individuals who want
to deepen their knowledge of Chi Kung.
The
course aims to produce safe, skillful and creative teachers.
The
tutor team are experienced in practising and teaching Chi
Kung.
The
following is a list of short biographies:
Thalbert Allen is Director
of the College of Chi Kung. He is a professional Shiatsu Practitioner,
specialising in Sports Injuries, and Craniosacral Therapist.
He teaches Tai Chi and Chi Kung in Ipswich and London. He
has studied Chi Kung with a variety of teachers. He has a
background in martial arts. He enjoys a fun approach to the
work. Thalbert's main aim is to try and demystify the work
making the basic technology more accessible.
Ged Sumner is
Co-Director of the College of Chi Kung and a professional
Craniosacral Therapist. He has studied with a variety of Chi
Kung teachers and integrates this with his understanding and
study of Meditation, Attachment Psychotherapy, Shiatsu, Chinese
medicine and Craniosacral therapy approaches. He teaches Craniosacral
Therapy in Australia and NZ and is a Director of the Healthy
Living Centre in North London, a multi-disciplinary natural
therapy centre. He is also course director of the Living Anatomy
training in London.

Tricia
Teahan is a professional Shiatsu Practitioner,
specialising in pregnancy. She is also a Craniosacral Therapist
working with both adults and babies. She is
currently an assistant tutor at the Institute of Cranial Studies.
She brings to Chi Kung her knowledge of Ki Aikido, Mindfulness
Meditation and Yoga. She has studied and practiced Chi Kung
with various teachers. Tricia is the Course Manager at the
College of Chi Kung.
Robert Hay is from a nursing background. He is
an Aromatherapist and Reikki Practitioner. Studying Tai Chi
and Chi Kung under various teachers have been a truly challenging
and inspiring experience for Robert. This set him on a path
of incredible adventure and self discovery. He believes The
Chi Kung Way is not just about doing lessons in a class but
living it every day in every possible way, so that the ordinary
becomes the extraordinary.
Dan Brierley worked for many
years in theatre production and lighting. He is now a Shiatsu
Practitioner, Traditional Thai and Holistic masseur and Craniosacral
Therapist, working with both adults and babies. He has studied
Aikido and Indonesian Silat for some years. His time is now
divided between teaching Chi Kung, clinic practice as well
as being an assistant tutor for the Instiute of Cranial Studies
based in Reading.
Daverick Leggett, qualifying
as a Shiatsu practitioner in 1987, Daverick moved on to become
a regional director of the European Shiatsu School. Following
a move to Devon in the early 1990s Daverick became a
director of the Centre for Oriental Medicine. He has studied
with Qigong master Zhixing Wang for many years. He has been
teaching both nutrition and Qigong since the early 1990s
throughout the UK and internationally. His two books, published
in the 90s, Helping Ourselves and Recipes for Self-Healing
contain the essential intent of his work: finding ways of
helping people to help themselves to deeper health and more
vibrant living.
